FICTION FRIDAY: Books I'm excited to finish . . . and a contest

I have a bad habit. I keep requesting books from the library. And when they come in, I have to drop what I was reading before so I can finish the library book before I start accruing fines. This means I currently have bookmarks in all of the following half-read books:

THE SHADOW PRINCE by Bree Despain
ICEFALL by Matt Kirby
CONVERSION by Elizabeth Ann Freeman
THE LOST LANGUAGE OF SYMBOLISM by Alonzo Gaskill
WAITING by Carol Lynch Williams
MOON OVER MANIFEST by Clare Vanderpool
ROOMIES by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando

It's an illness.

I did finish my library book, though. I read QUIET: THE POWER OF INTROVERTS IN A WORLD THAT CAN'T STOP TALKING. I liked it. I also read PARENTING YOUR POWERFUL CHILD. I don't think parenting books work, do you? But I just requested another one from the library.

I recently cleaned up my bookshelves again to see just how many books I still haven't read, and I discovered I have multiples. Does anyone want to win 2 hardcover SARA ZARR books? Leave a comment to win SWEETHEARTS and THE LUCY VARIATIONS. Tell me if you want them autographed or not. Contest ends one week from today at midnight.

What are you reading? Do you read one book at a time or many? Do you always finish a book or do you put it on trial for a certain number of pages?

Ooh, I can't resist a book give away contest. ;)
I've decided, after seeing your list of partially read books, that you have great taste and are the one to go to for good read recommendations. I'm always looking for a good read.

That said, I do put books on trial. First off, if it's offensive to the Spirit I put the book down. Secondly, once I mentioned to my Mom that I was mid book and just wasn't into it. I was waiting for it to get better, & Mom said, "Why waste precious moments of your life?" I thought it was great advice.

I'm currently reading Sara Raasch's ARC copy of SNOW LIKE ASHES. I just finished FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell. I read a book every weekend, so I'm pretty intent on sticking with one book and reading until I finish.

Love Sara Zarr! <3

Glad you liked the QUIET book! I adored that book. I need to buy the hardcover. I just read it in Kindle and need to read it about once a year, I think.

I've never read a parenting book. I think they're pointless. Just my opinion. :)
